TL;DR: Memex's biggest update yet introduces:

  • Plan Mode (think product manager for project scoping)

  • Control Center (one-click development operations and project status)

  • Context Management (seamless project continuity and long-term memory)

  • App Redesign

It's live now, with Launch Week deep dives all week. Follow along on Twitter/X, LinkedIn and Discord.

Today marks a special moment in Memex's journey. We're launching our most significant release yet, and we're doing it with a full week of deep dives, demos, and community celebration.

Over the past months, we've been tackling a fascinating design challenge: how could we make Memex simpler to use, while also making it more powerful? The answer is intelligence. Not just in the AI that writes your code, but in the systems that guide your thinking, streamline your workflow, and remember your context.

Today's release represents our vision of what AI development should be: thoughtful, efficient, and powerful enough for any ambition.

Plan Mode: Your AI Product Manager

We've learned something important from thousands of Memex projects: the quality of what you build is directly proportional to the quality of your planning (both initial and ongoing).

Enter Plan Mode. Plan Mode helps you scope your work through strategic questioning, pushes back when your initial ask is too ambitious or vague, and guides you toward technical choices that will get you to value quickly.

But here's the real magic: Plan Mode creates detailed project plans that are specifically structured for Build Mode success. These aren't generic project outlines—they're comprehensive development roadmaps written in a way that makes Build Mode shine. The result is better projects, faster delivery, and fewer dead ends.

Control Center: Your guide through the Software Development Lifecycle

Here's something that's always bothered us about AI coding tools: they assume you're comfortable with technical operations like version control, terminal commands, and deployment processes. That's a big assumption—and not one we want to make.

Control Center is our first step to help guide vibe coders through the software development lifecycle. It's your central hub for project status and context, with smart quick actions that let you set up version control with one click, universally start and stop applications regardless of tech stack, and generate comprehensive documentation automatically.

Control Center in action

One major feature of the new Control Center is our new agentic Terminal: the first agent that can handle interactive command-line tools. While AI systems freeze when a CLI asks "What's your project name?", our agent can read these prompts and respond just like a human would.

This unlocks scaffolding tools, interactive installers, and deployment wizards that were previously impossible. For non-technical builders, complex setup tasks happen automatically. For experienced developers, it means streamlined workflows and faster iteration.

Context Management: Memory for your projects

Anyone who's built complex projects with AI knows the frustration: as conversations grow, the AI forgets important details, makes inconsistent decisions, or loses track of your project's architecture.

Context Management solves this. It analyzes your project structure, reviews your conversation history, and optimizes what the AI remembers. The result? Better performance, reduced credit usage, and true project continuity across conversations.

Most importantly, Context Management makes starting new conversations in the same project seamless: you never lose context, and the AI maintains perfect understanding of your project's evolution, decisions, and constraints.

Think of it as giving Memex a memory of your project's journey. It remembers not just what you built, but why you built it that way, what decisions you made, and what you're trying to achieve.

Custom Agent Modes: Memex for your organization

Sometimes the most powerful feature is the one that adapts to how you already work. Custom Agent Modes let you customize Memex to plan and build using your company's preferred tech stacks and architectural patterns.

Imagine you're a product manager working with an engineering team that uses React and Go on Google Cloud. With Custom Agent Modes, Memex automatically incorporates these preferences into every plan and build. The experience feels identical to standard Memex—same conversations, same natural language building—but every line of code follows your organization's guardrails.

This transforms vibe coding from experimental prototypes into maintainable software that engineering teams can actually adopt. Product managers can prototype features grounded in real codebases. Internal tools get built using approved tech stacks from day one.

Quality of Life Updates: Making Every Day Better

Launch Week wouldn't be complete without refinements that make daily building smoother.

  • A Fresh Look: Memex is now more ergonomic, snappy, and polished. We've redesigned interactions, reorganized workflows, and refined details to create a more professional experience.

  • Long Context Mode is now generally available for Build and Scale users with 1M token support, and now powered by Claude Sonnet 4. Complex projects just got more manageable.

  • Intelligent Auto-Retry detects service interruptions and automatically retries, keeping you in flow during peak usage periods.

  • Native window management across Mac, Windows, and Linux lets you work with multiple projects side-by-side or use Memex as a copilot next to your browser.

Launch Week: Five Days of Deep Dives

Starting today, we're dedicating an entire week to showing you these features in action:

  • Monday (today!): Launch Week intro, Memex redesign, Control Center, and Context Management.

  • Tuesday: new agentic Terminal and other agent improvements

  • Wednesday: Plan Mode: your friendly technical Product Manager

  • Thursday: Custom Agent Modes Beta

  • Friday: Quality of Life updates: Long Context Mode enters GA, Intelligent Auto-Retry, and native window management

Follow along on Twitter/X, LinkedIn and Discord. Each day brings new examples, tutorials, and insights into making the most of these features.

Ready to Build?

These features are live in Memex right now. Whether you're returning after a break or you're a daily builder, we encourage you to start a new project and experience Plan Mode. Try Control Center on an existing project. Use Context Management to revive an old conversation.

Most importantly, build something you're excited about.

We can't wait to see what you create. And if something feels off, if you have ideas for improvement, or if these features unlock something amazing—let us know. Your feedback makes Memex better for everyone.

Ready to explore? Download Memex and start with Plan Mode on your next project.

As always, our mission remains the same: democratize the ability to create technology. With today's release, that future feels closer than ever.
